A Pig's Tale: Pig Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Mayor.
Although not quite at the identical stature as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the county's top official had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.
“The swine has done no wrong. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of pardons issued since the commencement of a second term in office.
“If we disregard eating six or seven apples per day,” the mayor added. “I hope she experiences a long and happy life without fear.”
This ceremony, which both honors and questions the local cultural practice of eating roast pork during the holidays, was established to emulate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.
The swine, contributed by a local firefighter, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people exclaiming “six seven” – inspired by a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The phrase became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently named “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.
A Peaceful Retirement
The pardoned swine is now set to enjoy its days at a countryside refuge “away from grills and cookware”, according to the ceremony's official statement.
“This swine clemency has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the end-of-year celebrations,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.
“It represents the character of Miami: joyful, diverse, and grounded in customs that unite the community. Each year, we are proud to celebrate tradition and kindness in a way distinctively Miamian.”
Attendees enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they marked Six Seven’s big moment.
