One of the original creators of the famous frozen dessert company Ben & Jerry's has announced how corporate owner Unilever stopped the launch for a new Palestine-themed frozen dessert product.

The entrepreneur, who established the company with his partner, revealed that he will independently develop the controversial flavor within a personal series highlighting issues the company has been barred from addressing publicly.

Longstanding Conflict Involving Founders versus Corporate Owner

This latest announcement deepens the ongoing disagreement among the internationally recognized dessert company and its corporate parent, the British packaged goods corporation which acquired Ben & Jerry's since 2000.

The co-founders have asserted that Unilever along with their ice cream division Magnum unlawfully blocked their company against "maintaining its activist principles".

The Fruit Flavor as an Emblem for Solidarity

The entrepreneur announced through an Instagram video that he is creating a new watermelon-based sorbet, asking for public suggestions regarding naming options and additional components.

“I'm accomplishing what they couldn't,” the founder stated from his kitchen. “I'm making a watermelon-based frozen dessert that calls for lasting ceasefire in Palestine while demanding addressing the harm that occurred in the region.”

This particular fruit has emerged as an emblem of solidarity with the Palestinian people because of its coloration, which closely resemble those of Palestine's national banner – red, green, black and white.

Previous Social Engagement and Recent Changes

Several years ago, the ice cream company ceased sales of their merchandise in territories occupied by Israel, resulting in Unilever transferring the Israeli operation over to an Israeli distributor, thereby permitting continued sales in the occupied West Bank.

The new dessert series will be developed under Mr. Cohen's personal brand, the activist dessert company which was first established in 2016 for endorsing ex- political contender Bernie Sanders with the flavor "Bernie's Return".

Management Changes and Upcoming Intentions

The founder revealed that he will create additional ice cream flavors that address issues which the company was silenced from speaking about openly due to Unilever.

The announcement comes after co-founder Mr. Greenfield resigned from Ben & Jerry's recently, following decades with the organization, citing concerns that its independence was compromised after Unilever's decision to restrict its social activism.

Previously, Ben Cohen commented that "Jerry has a really big heart and the ongoing dispute with Unilever was breaking it."

“My conscience compels me to continue to work within the organization to advocate for corporate autonomy ensuring that it can fulfill the social mission, the principles which it was founded on while upholding for decades," he told journalists.
