The United Kingdom Ready to Utilize Immobilized Russian Holdings to Fund Ukraine's Defense
The UK is prepared to move forward with employing the full worth of immobilized Russia's holdings to bolster the Ukrainian defense operations, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has declared.
In a shared declaration, the heads of state of the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany stated that this coordinated action would increase strain on Russian President Vladimir Putin and persuade Moscow to participate in talks.
They further noted that the decision would be carried out in close cooperation with the US.
UK sanctions have frozen more than £25bn of Russia's assets since Moscow began its full-scale invasion against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. Yet, up to this point, money allocated to Ukraine using Russian assets had only been taken from profits and interest earned on them.

He added that additional sanctions in the coming days and weeks would increase the strain on the Russian government.
This statement follows EU officials convened in the Danish capital recently to discuss using immobilized Russian assets for a €140 billion credit to Ukraine.
